"What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!"

The above quote is from the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". I heard it for the first time in a long time at the funeral of a friend's father recently. The first verse follows:

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

What a wonderful reminder whether we pray every day or only when we think of or really need it, that it is a privilege to share our pain, our trials, our temptations, troubles, sorrows, weaknesses, heaviness, load of care and share our burdens with God. As the hymn tells us at the end of the third verse: "Though wilt find a solace there."
