The yearning for God leads to grace and joy. “The means of life is to be found in God alone.” Irenaeus 2nd century.
One wise colleague speaks of those ‘thin’ times when we may not feel/sense God’s closeness. She addresses such times with the questions, “Do I believe? Do I want to believe? Do I want to, want to believe while yearning for God?” Yes to any of the above is a good thing that will open new doors to well being.
